What does fixed-price renovation cost?
Flip's price index is based on more than 700 completed projects. Typical fixed prices are around NOK 22,500 for interior painting, NOK 23,000 for flooring and NOK 31,000 for larger plastering projects. Your quote depends on area, surface condition and scope.
These are medians from real projects, not a promise that every job costs the same. Once your project has been described, you receive a binding price for that specific scope.
How to get a fixed price without a site visit
Add the address, rooms, surfaces, measurements and photos. Contractors receive the same job description and can price it digitally, so you avoid coordinating several initial visits.
The quote states whether labour, materials, covering, waste and cleaning are included. The contract and communication are stored digitally, and payment is released after the work is approved.
Fixed price or hourly rate?
Hourly rates can work when the scope is unknown or the job involves ongoing troubleshooting. For planned painting, plastering and flooring, a fixed price is often simpler because the final cost is known before work begins.
A fixed price covers the described scope. If hidden damage is discovered or you request more work, the contractor must describe and price the change before carrying it out.

Is the fixed price really binding?
Yes. The accepted quote is binding for the work and scope stated in the contract. Changes or additional work must be agreed in writing before they are carried out.
Does it cost anything to receive quotes?
No. Describing the project and receiving quotes is free and non-binding. You pay only after accepting a quote and having the work completed.
Does a contractor need to visit first?
Usually not. Photos, measurements and the project description provide the basis for a quote. Particularly complex conditions may require clarification before work begins.
What happens if the scope changes?
The contractor must describe and price the change before additional work begins, allowing you to approve or decline it first.
Which jobs are suitable for a fixed price?
Painting, plastering, flooring, floor sanding, wallpapering, kitchen-front painting and other surface renovation services are well suited to fixed pricing.
